Marvin L. Johnson has lived in Washington, DC since 1994 and is your candidate for ANC Commissioner in Single Member District 1A01.  He is Director of the Grants and Procurement Branch at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) where he helped to secure a total of  $15M through the competitive Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant Program that placed entry-level police officers on the street at a substantial savings to DC taxpayers.  He has also drafted award-winning proposals that focused on prostitution enforcement, human trafficking, crime camera installation, and youth violence reduction.


Before joining the management team at MPD in 2004, Marvin led the Peace Corps Partnership Program that funded Volunteer projects in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guyana, Jamaica, and other posts.  Before the Peace Corps, Marvin was Chief Development Officer at Mary’s Center and spearheaded the expansion of health services throughout the DC area.  In addition to a hectic career in public service, he has served on the Board of Directors of Academy of Hope and Whitman-Walker Clinic.
